Family and Friends,

On behalf of Covenant House, I need your help.

On May 24th, armed with a sleeping bag and piece of cardboard, I will take to the streets of Toronto to sleep for the night. It will be dark, cold, sirens a-blazing, the fear of unknown around each corner. To those who know me, the creature comforts of home are my everything. I have literally built a career around the obsession. But for one night I can give up those comforts of home knowing it can bring warmth and brightness to the young people who need it most.

Sleep Out is a humbling experiential event taking place in downtown Toronto in an effort to raise money and awareness for Covenant House and youth between 16-24 who seek shelter there.

Why this cause? Because there have been a handful of times in my life where I have humbly been close to not being able to pay my rent. Because I am a mother and my heart feels extra hard for children. Because I have met some of the young children in the shelter system and want them to rise out. Because young people are our future, and every single one of them deserves our love and support.

I don’t ask for money very often, but this is one of those times I am. 91% of every fundraising dollar goes towards Covenant House.

If you can’t afford to donate at this time, I understand. If you can, knowing that every time I hit $500 in donations that it contributes to a week’s worth of food, shelter, counselling, clean clothes and job prep for one young person who could change the world (or just survive?), please do.

With love, here’s my fundraising page: https://covenanthousetoronto.akaraisin.com/W…/homesweetkaryn
